Five people seriously injured by drunk driver

Missouri residents should be able to feel safe when they get in their cars and trust that in today's society, the fact that drinking and driving is unsafe is well known and accepted by all. Sadly that is not the case as there remain too many people who refuse to let go of their keys when they drink or who refuse to stop drinking when they know they will be driving. Whatever the reason for these choices, the end result is the same - innocent people are injured and killed for no good reason.

One of the many difficult elements of this reality is that it may feel sometimes that justice is slow to come or that it may never come. In a crash that happened late last summer, five people were riding in a sport utility vehicle in Belleville when all of a sudden their vehicle was struck by a drunk driver. All five of the occupants inside the SUV sustained serious injuries that required them to be taken to Memorial Hospital. Two of the people seriously injured were minors, girls aged 10 and 11 years old.

Recently the at-fault driver has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence causing an accident. If she is ultimately convicted she may face up to 12 years in prison. One can expect that the people injured in the crash will be watching this case carefully.

People in Missouri injured by a drunk driver might want to discuss civil compensation options with a lawyer as another way of seeking justice after these senseless crashes.
