Can other motorists be dangerous to motorcycles?

Missouri motorcyclists face dangers every time they get on the road. Unfortunately, other vehicles can pose one of the biggest threats. McShane & Brady, personal injury attorneys, are here to fight you if you've suffered due to a crash with another vehicle.

When you get on the road with other motorists, you should keep your size in mind. Because cars are bigger than you, you'll likely be the one suffering the most if you get into any accidents. Additionally, other drivers might not be able to spot you easily. Try to avoid driving through their blind spots and leaving plenty of room between yourself and other vehicles, especially if they're large.

You can also try wearing reflective gear like tape, lights, or special helmets. However, despite the safety precautions you take, other cars can still swing into your lane or cut you off, increasing your chances of getting into a crash.

Other motorists can also leave inadequate space for motorcycles on the road. Some may drive too closely, and others may not give you enough time to react if they brake suddenly or switch into or out of your lane. Sudden movements from other vehicles can be annoying to their fellow drivers, but potentially harmful to motorcycles.

If you have been involved in a motorcycle accident before and want to learn more about your options for compensation, please take a look at our web page on motor vehicle accidents, linked here. With more knowledge on the law, you can face your case with a greater sense of certainty.
