On July 16, 2015 McShane & Brady will be participating in Step-Up for Women. This program is hosted by the Kansas City chapter of the Association for Women Lawyers (AWL), and McShane & Brady's very own Maureen Brady is chair of the event.

Step-Up for Women is a wonderful program which provides free legal assistance to women who are victims of domestic violence. The program allows these individuals to resolve outstanding Municipal Court warrants and charges with the City of Kansas City, Missouri. Oftentimes, warrants and municipal court charges stand as obstacles for people seeking employment, housing, and social services. The program helps victims dispose of the warrants and charges helping grant access to much needed services.

In exchange for probation and community service, many women are able to address speeding and parking tickets which have plagued them for years. The program also partners with Connections to Success, a local non-profit agency, to offer Step-Up participants classes on building a life plan and job-seeking skills such as resume preparation and interview attire. The completion of these classes are typically a condition of probation.
